This twelve-week short course will equip you with the understanding and background knowledge to produce jewellery items of your choice. Week by week techniques will be demonstrated enabling you to build your knowledge and skills · Making a ring· Doming/ swaging · Tube making · Use of rolling mills · Use of draw plates · Working with pliers · Finishing techniques · Texturing · Soldering techniques To help you gain confidence it is essential that these skills are practiced in the class. With experience, help from your tutor and support from others in the class you will soon find that you are able to work independently on some projects. With time you will be able to develop your skills and grow in confidence being able to tackle more challenging projects. Sessions take place in a jewellery workshop environment. Health and safety require that safety shoes must always be worn by everyone. Students are required to bring their own safety boots or overshoes with them for each session.Duration: 12 weeks during semester 2. With over 40 years of experience Katherine will guide you through the basic skills required to make jewellery. Katherine is a studio-based jeweller specialising in the technique of Keum-boo. Katherine is well-connected within the trade and will signpost you to suppliers to source your own materials / tools or services to support your making process.
